On 3rd June 2025, we treated our service users to a fantastic day trip to Scarborough. Our founder, Stephen, made use of our Charity Mini Bus and offered all individuals to come along and enjoy the day. We gave our service users the choice of meeting at the Community Hub at the Rift House Community Building and also offered to collect them straight from their doorstep. After everyone had met up and we collected other service users from Billingham and Guisborough, we got on the road!
On arrival at Scarborough and after a quick fibro family photo, the volunteers and staff members aided each individual along the promenade and found a wheelchair accessible Fish and Chips Restaurant to enjoy a well deserved treat. Everyone sat together and enjoyed the company and glorious view of the sunny beach making all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes seem like it had paid off.
Once everyone had ate, we made our way along the sea front looking in all of the gift shops and spotted the boat trips. We sailed along the sea and admired the beautiful coastline that Scarborough had to offer. Seeing all of the happy faces on the boat gave all of the service users some relief of their everyday struggles and made them feel like they could breathe again, surrounded by joy instead of pain. Our volunteers were on hand all day ensuring that the day was easy and comfortable for the individuals and making it as stress-free as possible. The volunteers aided service users off the boat and continuously provided support for the rest of the day. We took a trip on the big wheel and had some fun in the arcades playing on the 2 pence machines and having a fun, laughter filled day.
All of the service users and individuals boarded the bus and off we went after a glorious day. But – who can forget? ICE CREAM. We stopped off at Whitby on the way home to enjoy an ice cream just to say Thank you to the continuous support the volunteers, staff and service user endure on an every day basis. Fibro-Connect TS would not be what it is without all of these people and here at Fibro we can never express the gratitude we have towards them. We are extremely grateful to have the help and support from our volunteers who have gained amazing friendships with the service users and we can’t wait to invite our fibro family on more day trips in the future.
